Oxidized Bitumen (Blown Bitumen)

Oxidized bitumen, also known as blown bitumen, is a specialized bitumen produced by passing hot air through penetration grade bitumen under controlled conditions. This process increases the material’s hardness, softening point, and thermal stability, making it ideal for applications where resistance to heat, deformation, and aging is critical.

Penetration Grade Bitumen

Penetration grade bitumen is one of the most widely used bitumen types in road construction, asphalt paving, and infrastructure projects. It is classified based on its penetration value, which indicates the hardness or softness of the bitumen and determines its suitability for different climatic conditions.

Lower penetration grades, which are harder, are typically used in hot climates to prevent rutting and deformation. Higher penetration grades, being softer, are preferred in colder regions to reduce the risk of cracking. Selecting the correct grade is essential for achieving long-term pavement performance and durability.
